New Year, New UX Portfolio

Welceom to UXWATTS 3.0

I made a new UX portfolio. There was no plan. No premeditation or grand scheme, I just wanted something different and did it. In essence, I veered pretty hard to the right with the new design. That, was the intentional part. But beyond that, I wanted a fresh start, something with a design that was loud and slightly obnoxious (like me).

Big and Bold

Let's be clear, I bought and modified the template that I'm using which was created by a far more creative designer. I 'tweaked' the design and made it my own and I'm happy with it. This was by design because I didn't want to focus on the act of putting the portfolio together this time. No, instead, I wanted something that I could focus on actual content rather than painstaking construction.

My Previous UX Portfolios

My previous portfolios have been the result of staying up until 3:00 am for months on end learning Webflow and focusing on every minute detail. Every rounded corner, spacing, kerning and component was meticulously placed in a beautiful harmony. I'm proud of the previous portfolio sites that I've made. But they were so focused on 'good, clean design' that I forgot about fun. I'm a fairly eccentric person but if you looked at my sites before this, you wouldn't know it. This iteration has elements of fun but also a great resource for my work.

Wrapping it Up

Let's be honest, UX portfolios are nonsense, mostly. Like anything else, they are a tool. But for me, I had an awakening recently and that was: go a little wild on this iteration. Be unapologetically you. And, I suppose that is how I ended up here. Without a plan or strategy, I traded the chase for perfection with something that was easy to update but also visually far different than anything I've designed before.

It took me exactly 3 days to invent UXWATTS 3.0. and I'm really happy (for now) with the results!
